Biography: Romana, short for Romanadvoratrelundar, is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey and one time companion of the renegade Time Lord known as the Doctor.

Extremely intelligent and occasionally haughty, Romana was assigned to aid the Doctor in the quest for the Key to Time. Once the Key was safely retrieved, the young Time Lady regenerated into her second incarnation. She was just as intelligent, but a little less aloof.

Eventually, Romana left the company of the Doctor in order to seek her own path in the parallel universe known as E-Space.

Upon returning the N-Space, Romana returned to her home planet of Gallifrey and became President of the High Council of Time Lords. Her radical reforms are unpopular with many, and during her presidency she battled Free Time terrorists and even an ancient Gallifreyan evil known as the Pandora. Though she was still parted from the Doctor, her loyal bodyguard (and another of the Doctor's former companions), Leela of the Sevateem, stood by her side throughout.

As a Time Lord, Romana has the ability to regenerate, and counts her age in centuries rather than years. She also has a binary vascular system and clairvoyant capabilities.

Telepathy is another characteristic attributed to the Time Lords. As well as being linked to the rest of her people - at least, when they lived - Romana shares a telepathic link with her TARDIS. A TARDIS is both a time machine and a space craft, with a chameleon circuit allowing to prevent it from attracting attention when it lands.
